How To Get A Marijuana Resin Stain Out Of Clothes

How To Get Marijuana Resin Out Of Clothes | 8 ways to clear the stains

A resin stain on your clothes is a definite pain. Resin doesn’t have a pleasant smell, so not only does it make your clothes dirty, but it also makes it smell. It’s a difficult substance to clean, especially from clothes.

I have some traditional tips and tricks into cleaning resin out of your clothes! Don’t opt straight for the chemicals, as they may damage your favorite shirt.

Note: I am NOT condoning the use of marijuana as we are aware it’s illegal in some parts of the world!

Different Ways to Get Resin Out Of Your Clothes

There are many ways to get marijuana wax out of your clothes without damaging them or tossing them in the bin. Some are easier than you think!

#1 Hot Water

Just simple, hot water.

It’s the easiest method and does not involve the use of things that may harm your clothes. Boil your water and add one cup to a container. Put in the stained part and wait until the resin melts and dissolves. Before it cools, take a brush and rub on the stain until it fades away.

Be careful not to burn yourself while doing this.

#2 Hairdryer

This is another good way to get heat on the resin without potentially burning yourself!

However, you should be careful not to put the hairdryer directly on your clothes as it can cause a burn mark. Keep it at a considerable distance and once the resin melts, use a cotton ball soaked with some acetone to remove the stain.

#3 Rubbing Alcohol (Or Vodka!)

You can soak some cotton wool in rubbing alcohol and gently rub it into the stain until it fades away. If possible, soak that stained part in rubbing alcohol for the stain to lift. Wash your clothes after doing this.

Vodka can also work to remove resin from your clothes. High alcohol vodka makes a great deodorizing spray for your smelly clothes and can also lift the sticky resin off your clothes. Let it sit for 15 minutes, and use a spoon to scrape the resin off.

#4 Ice, Ice Baby!

If the heat doesn’t work, then we can try the total opposite.

Grab ice cubes and put them in a face towel or an ice pack and put it on the stain until it freezes. It should become hard and easy to scrape off. Wash your clothes as normal.

#5 Baking Soda

Mix water with baking soda to make a sort-of thick paste. Apply a pea-sized amount to the stain and rub gently. Leave for an hour and hand wash your clothes afterward.

This method is not recommended for dark colors as the baking soda can leave a white residue that is hard to remove.

#6 Oil

You can use any oil, from coconut oil to even peanut butter! However, I recommend olive oil.

Apply your oil to the stain and leave it to sit for 10 to 15 minutes. The oil will soften the resin, making it easy to scrape it off. Wash your clothes as normal.

#7 Nail Polish Remover

Nail polish remover is also a great option as it contains acetone. Use a cotton ball with some nail polish remover and apply it to the resin stain. However, this should not be done on colored clothes as it may run and make your clothes look damaged.

#8 Chlorine LOVES White Clothes

This would be a great technique if you dropped your hash on white clothes.

Use a small amount of chlorine in cotton and apply it to the stain. If it does not work, mix the chlorine with water and soak the clothes for some time. Wash your clothes as normal with favorite laundry detergent.

This is NOT how it’s done!

My favorite detergent are those that come in dissolvable laundry sheets. While I don’t always use fabric softener, it can be a good idea to use it for the fresh smell they can provide!

My advice is to tackle your resin stain a few minutes after dropping it. And if all fails, you can even try salt. Salt will loosen the resin from your clothes. You can combine salt with some toothpaste—this works with every kind of fabric and color.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does hemp clothing leave resin behind?

No! Hemp clothing should not leave any resin behind. Although hemp also comes from the Cannabis sativa plant, the process for turning the plant into textiles should eliminate any residual oils.

How do you clean resin off your hands?

Don’t give me a side-eye expression, but mayonnaise.

Apart from giving your sandwich life, mayonnaise can literally remove that stickiness. Regular soap does not do anything at all, but there’s just something in mayo that gets it off. Apply some to your hand, then rinse it off.

If you’re just too weirded out by that (understandable), you can also use vegetable oil.

How do you get bong resin out of carpet?

Use a white cloth with some rubbing alcohol and dab on the area where the stain is. Use a clean part of your rage to blot the rubbing alcohol and the resin. Keep doing this, and you should see the stain fading.

You can also combine a teaspoon of liquid dishwashing detergent with 2 cups of warm water. Put this solution on the stain and let it sit for a while. Remember, your detergent should be clear and have no bleach.
